Liqa’ ASAS 2019 – Smart Contract & Blockchain : Disruptive or Constructive?

Tamu Hotel & Suites, Kuala Lumpur – March 18,2019 – Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) had conducted Liqa’ ASAS 2019 in conjunction with 8th ASAS Annual General Meeting, with the theme on Smart Contract & Blockchain: Disruptive or Constructive?. The event succesfully attended by more than 70 participants. This Liqa’ ASAS 2019 was mainly a discussion on Smart Contract and was delivered by expert speakers. The session was moderated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Hidayat Buang (Chairman, Shariah Supervisory Council, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad).

The first speaker was Mr. Abdul Fattah Mohamed Yatim (Chairman of National Standards Committee on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies, Department of Standards Malaysia). Second speaker was Mr. Muhammad Izzam Mohd Khazar (Head, Shariah Centre of Excellence, Maybank Islamic Malaysia Berhad) and third speaker was Mr. Wan Rumaizi Wan Husin (Shariah Board Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Berhad). The event went very well with excellent presentation and a two-way communication to involve the audience. ASAS believes that Liqa’ ASAS is very relevant to update the members, particularly the Shariah Advisory Committee members and industries with the latest development in respect to specific legislation governing Islamic Finance industry in Malaysia. Thus, participation and involvement in this event are very paramount in order to be equipped with the latest governing rule and issues relating thereof which are essential in discharging the advisory and supervisory duties accordingly.
